To complement the annual Joint Symposium of The University of Melbourne and Peking University Centre for Psychiatry Research and Training, St Vincent’s Mental Health Service (SVMHS) hosted a small group of senior delegates from Peking University (PKU) on Friday 14th August. Lead by Prof. Ma Hong, Director of the Department of Public Mental Health, PKU Institute of Mental Health, the delegates began the day with an introduction to Victorian mental health services before walking through the patient journey to meet with staff in Emergency Mental Health, the Acute Inpatient Service, Clarendon Community Clinic and the SVMHS and Mental Illness Fellowship Prevention and Recovery Care Service.
Along the way, the delegates were exposed to the daily operations of the clinics and teams focusing on staff training, quality and risk protocols and case management strategies. Thank you to Mr. Graeme Doidge, Manager of SVMHS Clarendon Clinic and other senior members of the SVMHS community who provided valuable insights throughout the day.
Asia Australia Mental Health would like to thank all parties involved and we look forward to welcoming future delegations to St. Vincent’s Mental Health Service.
